Authorities Suspend Search for Young Boy Lost in Australian Wilderness
Australian authorities have called off the search for a four-year-old child who has been lost in the wilderness for almost several weeks, after additional efforts were unable to locate any signs of the boy.
Chronology of Events
The child was last seen engaging near his home on a isolated sheep station in the vicinity of Yunta, about 300km from Adelaide, on September 27th.
His grandparent left him alone for about a short period before checking on him, only to find the boy gone, triggering one of the biggest ground and aerial operations in local records.
Latest Status
Police - who do not suspect wrongdoing - say they will continue investigating, but that the case has become a "recovery mission".
Last week, police temporarily wound down the hunt, only to recommence it on Tuesday alongside numerous defense staff.
"Official authorities said police were looking a wider area based on new analyses from medical and search specialists, rather than any new information."
Search Challenges
On the end of last week, police confirmed that the new search had not uncovered any signs of Gus.
